Your Part in the Miraculous

Updated: Jun 7, 2021

A Wise Man Said, “You can measure the greatness of a man by how much it takes to discourage him”.  (dis-courage – make him loose his courage)

Joshua

Deut 31:7            7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it. KJV

God made promise to His people ( He made the promise, not you)

 – you must be strong – face enemies, hardships, etc. and lead (and go with) the people into their God given inheritance.  Full of courage – not “discouraged”

“David Knew It Was Not About Him.  It Was About Israel”

1 Sam 17:23-24,32,45

23 …. there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.  And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.

32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.

45 Then said David to the Philistine, …. I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

It was a simple matter to David: God had made promise to Israel. This man – regardless of his size – was defying God’s right to bless His people.  David knew it was God’s will to deliver His people from their enemies.  The sight and sound of Goliath did not rob him of his courage.

No matter the sound of the enemy or the looks of him, it is not about you, but about God. That enemy is standing in the way of God blessing his people and your bringing them into the inheritance God has prepared for them.

God knows our frame: He knows we look on the exterior. We look at the circumstances. They can be daunting at times.  He does not think less of us when he sees our weaknesses. He even makes a way for us to compensate.

Heb 4:15-16

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. KJV

God measured Gideon

Judg 6:11-16

11 And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abi-ezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.

12 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. (Faith Statement)

13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

14 And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

15 And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.

16 And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man KJV

Gideon was looking at a very large army in the valley below him.

God saw Gideon’s heart — and he saw fear

Judg 6:23And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.

And then, after all the gathering of the army and the downsizing it, God still saw his heart and made allowance for it.

Gideon was looking at a very large army in the valley below him. He had only 300 men to fight a mighty army.  He had been obedient. He had moved in faith.

Now, without insulting him, God makes a gentle suggestion:

Judg 7:10

10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host: 11 ……………..Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.

Don’t let circumstances or what you see and hear keep you from the victory God wants you to enjoy.  You may be a David or a Gideon.  Both won the day!  One had to have a helper to lean on. No matter! It is not about him. It’s about being a part of God fulfilling his word and his promise to His people.
